Krypton is beginning to populate.
Georgina Campbell has been cast as Lyta Zod, the female lead in Syfy’s upcoming Superman prequel pilot, our sister site Deadline reports. Lyta is a cadet in Krypton’s military caste and part of the same family tree that spawned super-villain General Zod — which makes it extra-awkward when she strikes up a star-crossed romance with Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El.
While this marks Campbell’s first U.S. TV series, the English actress won a BAFTA award for her work on the UK drama Murdered by My Boyfriend, and she’ll co-star in the upcoming third season of Broadchurch alongside David Tennant and Olivia Colman.
'Krypton', which has a pilot order from Syfy, is set two generations before Superman’s home planet goes ka-blam, and focuses on the Man of Steel’s grandpa as he battles to redeem his family’s good name after a shameful fall from grace.
This is so interesting, I had no idea this show was even a thing.
