8-Year-Old 'Moxie McGriff' Author Releases New Book About Afro Puff-Powered Superheroine

Last year, Natalie McGriff won $16K at a crowdfunding festival and used it to produce a comic—co-written with her mother, Angie Nixon—about a Black girl with superpowers derived from her multi-colored Afro puffs. Even more impressive? She accomplished this at the tender age of 7. 

The now-8-year-old McGriff continues her winning streak with the just-released second book in her "The Adventures of Moxie McGriff" series, "Moxie McGriff Saves the Libraries: Part Two." According to a statement emailed to Colorlines, the new book features the hero "us[ing] her newly acquired superpowers in her hair to try and save the Jacksonville Public Libraries from being eaten by monsters attempting to make the students not so smart."
