ARROW'S Cynthia Addai-Robinson Praises Viola Davis' Amanda Waller From SUICIDE SQUAD

Before Viola Davis stepped into the intimidating shoes of Amanda Waller in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, the character had a minor stint on The CW's Arrow, played by actress Cynthia Addai-Robinson. The character was unceremoniously killed off the show, however, rumoured to be because the DC films division didn't allow for movie characters to be used on television at the time. 

When asked by Comicbook.com about whether she'd be up to reprise the role as a younger Waller in a DC film, Addai-Robinson (who stars in The Accountant with Ben Affleck) was quick to give the "fight" up to Davis' version of the character. "Oh man. You know, look, I am a huge fan of Viola Davis so I would not want to get into the two Amanda Wallers fight, I would give it to her."

Despite this, Addai-Robinson reflected on her time in the role, glad she was able to portray an iconic character like Waller. "...but again, it's been a gift to even sort of play in that world, and I like the idea that you know that I can sort of do both, that I can play a character like that who's really larger than life and iconic, and then sort of get to do something like [The Accountant] where, it just feels a little bit more rooted in reality and a little bit more human and relatable, but all the Arrow fans, I always get a lot of love and I'm forever grateful to be a part of that as well."

Apparently Arrow's Suicide Squad Was a Test Run for the Movie

When Arrow got its hands on Task Force X, fans were excited to see part of DC comics lore on the show. Then the Suicide Squad movie got announced, and Arrow very quickly had to stop using the characters. Fans have long assumed the movie killed Arrow’s plans for the team, but apparently the movie was responsible for their appearance in the first place.

Another part of Greg Berlanti’s extensive Vulture interview released this week saw the producer discuss how the TV shows can be a proving grounds for the movies and for comics characters to be considered for live-action. According to Berlanti, Task Force X was brought onto the show at Warner Bros.’ request, in order to familiarize people with the characters before the movie began.

‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ Casts ‘Originals’ Alum as New Vixen

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” has recruited “The Originals” star Maisie Richardson-Sellers to tackle a new iteration of the superhero known as Vixen for Season 2, Variety has learned.

Richardson-Sellers will play the series regular role of Amaya Jiwe, the grandmother of the present-day Vixen, Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke). Like her granddaughter, Amaya’s powers are derived from the mysterious Tantu Totem, which allows her to magically access the abilities of animals.

Echikunwoke, who headlines CW Seed’s animated “Vixen” series and appeared in live-action on “Arrow,” was unable to join “Legends” Season 2 due to scheduling. But since the superhero show focuses on time-travel, producers found a way to avoid recasting Echikunwoke’s role while still including Vixen on their superhero roster for the sophomore season.

Also joining the show for Season 2 is Nick Zano, who was recently cast as Dr. Nate Heywood, a historian whose grandfather was the hero known as Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America.

Richardson-Sellers is best known for her role as Eva Sinclair on fellow CW drama “The Originals.” She also starred in ABC’s shortlived Biblical drama “Of Kings and Prophets” and appeared in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

13 Actors Who Could Play The New Vixen On Legends of Tomorrow

Last year, actress Megalyn Echikunwoke nabbed the voice role of DC hero Vixen in an animated web series named after the character. After the first season of the series, Echikunwoke even made her live action debut on Arrow as the same character. When news that the spinoff series Legends of Tomorrow would have a rotating cast of heroes, fans began suggesting that nearly every hero that has ever appeared on Arrow or The Flash could make an appearance, including Vixen. Unfortunately, Echikunwoke’s schedule will not permit her to appear on the second season of the fledgling TV series, but Vixen will make an appearance nonetheless, so a new Vixen will be cast for the series.

Some tantalizing possibilities here. I am familiar with a lot of the actresses named, any would be awesome.

Vixen Will Join The Legends of Tomorrow For Season 2; But Megalyn E.K. Won't Be Playing Her

Vixen is joining the Legends of Tomorrow... or at least, a version of Vixen. According to TV Insider, the DC superheroine will be joining season 2 of the CW show as a series regular, but it won't be Megalyn E.K. in the costume. Instead, the team will recruit an older incarnation of the character "who may or may not share some sort of historical tie to Mari McCabe".

This leaves the door open for E.K. - who will continue to provide the voice of Vixen in the CW Seed animated series - to make an appearance once her schedule clears up.

'Vixen' is heading to 'Arrow' Actress Megalyn Echikunwoke will be bringing the animated 'Vixen' she voiced on The CW Seed to life on 'Arrow'

When The CW announced they would be bringing DC Comics first African-American superheroine to life on the animated series "Vixen", everyone wondered if she would ever make the jump to live action television. 

The CW announced today via TVInsider, that Vixen would indeed be joining the DC universe in episode 14 of "Arrow." Megalyn Echikunwoke, who voiced Vixen in the animated CW Seed series, will reprise her role as Mari McCabe.

Since Mari/Vixen already met the characters from Team Flash and Team Arrow on the animated series, it makes sense that she would connect with them again. HitFix Harpy already speculated earlier this year why Vixen is an important character to include on shows like "Arrow" and "The Flash".
